Romans 5:19
"For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous."
One man's disobedience = Adam
One Man's obedience = Jesus Christ
Through Adam's disobedience we were made sinners. Through the obedience of Christ, as Christians we are made righteous.
What does it mean to be made righteous?
Righteous - dikaios (Strongs) - equitable (in character or act) by impl. innocent, holy (absol. or rel.) - just, meet, right (-eous).
Side note: It is not our own obedience that make us righteous, but the obedience of Christ going to the cross.
We are no longer subject to sin because of Adam, but are righteous because of Christ. It isn't something we earn through works, but something Christ has done for us.
Obedience - hupakoe (Strongs) - attentive harkening i.e. (by impl.), compliance or submission - obedience, (make) obedient, obey (-ing).
Christ complied. Christ submitted. Christ harkened attentively to His Father God.
Harken - (www.dictionary.com) - to listen attentively, give heed
