Word Saturday
I don't know that I have ever thought about the awesomeness of the fact that Christ paid for my sin over 2,000 years ago before I was born. He truly is an amazing God!!! He knew that His people would continue to be a sinful people.
Colossians 2:13-15
"And you being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, , having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it."
Points standing out to me:
1. The requirements of being perfect and like Christ is against us. It is against our flesh and is not possible for us to maintain, or even reach.
- http://www.dictionary.com/ - Contrary - opposite in nature or character
- Strongs Concordanance - Handwriting - Greek "cheirographon" - a legal document or bond
2. He has taken the requirements out of the way. It is no longer keeping us from Christ. The cross made all of the difference.
3. Through the cross, all principalities were disarmed. I picture it as an army with no weapons in which to fight. They can still affect us. When we call on Christ and are walking in Him, Christ is our weapon and principalities and powers don't stand a chance at prevailing.
4. Disarming the enemy was not done in private, but in public for all to see and know.
