"For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, 'I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.' Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has God not made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men."

I. Truth is about proclaiming Christ, not cleverness and creativity. (I Cor. 1:17)
-----A. "Preach" in this passage means to "Harold."
-----B. Harolds were sent out by the king to get messages communicated.
-----C. The king would seal a document and the harolds would run from place to place.
-----D. As they would run from place to place, others would pass the word ahead of the harold that a message was coming.
-----E. The people would gather before the messanger arrived and when he arrived, he would break the seal and read the document.
-----F. The harold had to read the document word for word, not watering it down or changing the wording according to how they would have it.
II. Truth is about the Power of God, not the wisdom of the world. (I Cor. 1:18-19)
-----A. The freedom of Christ is free to all, but not without cost.
-----B. If we need to know if something is God speaking, check the Bible and see if the word given and the Bible align.
-----C. God's Word doesn't just save us, but it also sanctifies us.
-----D. Only God can change the heart.
III. Truth is about the Plan of God, not the Preferences of People. (I Cor. 1: 20-25)
-----A. All of the Word of God is the truth.
-----B. There is no cutting and pasting.
-----C. The Word isn't all about nice stories.
