30 Days of Obedience - Day 5

Today was day 5 with no chocolate & now my quiet time learning about obedience. The chocolate I thought would be more difficult, but it is the quiet times I struggle to put time aside for. I seem to be waiting until the last moment when the day is done. For instance, it is now 10:13pm. Crazy! Good thing I can sleep in tomorrow.

Hebrews 5:7-8
"who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered."

There are times in our lives when we cry out to God to take away the pain & suffering. These may not always be physical pains & sufferings, but can also be emotional. We may pray, fast, ask others for prayer, & other such things. However, it seems God does not hear & our voices are carried away with the wind. Know that Christ also offered up prayers and supplications. He cried & sent tears heavenward to the One who was able to save Him from death. It says in God's Word that because of a godly fear the tears of Christ were heard. Christ was truly His Son. Yet it was through his suffering He learned obedience. My question to both you and I is, "How many times has God gotten our attention through hardship, trials, suffering, and pain?" Aren't these so often the times when we turn our listening ears on & hang onto every word He says? These also seem to be the times when we spend more time in the Word & hear what we normally would not listen to. We are not alone. Just as God heard the tears of Christ, He hears our cries. God is trying to teach us obedience through the suffering we must go through in this life.
